– Part of the plastic reduction campaign “LESS PLASTIC, WE ARE FANTASTIC”
– Full-scale launch of an action-oriented plastic reduction campaign led by young environmental crew members
On Saturday, June 27, Amorepacific officially launched Fantastic Crew Season 2, an action program under its plastic reduction campaign, “Less Plastic, We Are Fantastic,” with a kickoff ceremony.
Under the concept “FANTASTIC CREW in NATURE,” Fantastic Crew Season 2 is an action-oriented campaign in which participants collect plastic waste firsthand in natural settings, including oceans, mountains, and urban areas. Building on Season 1, which encouraged environmentally conscious habits in everyday life, Season 2 expands the campaign to include field-based plastic reduction activities.
A total of six youth environmental organizations—Thumbs Up, Youth Plogging Club Sseureker, GOGO DIVE, Ploving Korea, SSSJ Club, and Clean Hikers—participated in the kickoff ceremony and officially pledged to take action to reduce plastic waste.
During the ceremony, Professor Sung-Yeon Hwang of the Department of Convergent Biotechnology and Advanced Materials Science at Kyung Hee University delivered an environmental education lecture on the history of plastic, its current global landscape, and the seriousness of plastic pollution. Through accessible and engaging storytelling, Professor Hwang explored the issue of plastic and highlighted the significance and social value of the crews’ field-based collection activities.
Amorepacific then introduced its ongoing plastic reduction initiatives. WWF-Korea and Amorepacific’s CSR Team shared the direction and operating procedures for Fantastic Crew Season 2, marking the official start of the campaign.
Amorepacific is conducting the campaign based on a memorandum of understanding with WWF-Korea. The campaign is funded by KRW 50 million raised through Amorepacific’s employee matching gift program. By drawing on WWF’s professional environmental education expertise and global network, Amorepacific plans to enhance the campaign’s expertise and credibility.
“Fantastic Crew Season 2 aims to establish an action-oriented CSR model through which we work alongside young people at real-world sites,” said an Amorepacific representative. “We will continue our efforts to help sincere action toward plastic reduction take root as a shared culture.”
Since declaring its principle of Infinite Responsibility in 1993, Amorepacific has developed a circular model for plastics centered on its 4R strategy—Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, and Return—by reducing unnecessary plastic use, improving recyclability, and promoting the reuse and collection of containers. In 2009, the company launched its Empty Bottle Recycling Campaign to collect and recycle empty plastic and glass cosmetics containers. By 2025, it had collected a cumulative total of 2,840 metric tons of empty containers.
